(all new oak) Inky ruby. Intensely perfumed dark berry, cherry compote and violet aromas are complicated by suggestions of Indian spices and licorice. Juicy, expansive black and blue fruit flavors show impressive depth and energy, while a smoky mineral element adds lift and focus. Chewy tannins add grip to very long, floral-driven finish that leaves a sweet blueberry note behind.

Notes of flowers, currants, pepper, underbrush and meaty dark fruits all define Gerin's 2014 Côte Rôtie La Landonne, a tiny-production cuvée (800 bottles) of 100% Syrah that was completely destemmed and aged all in new barrels. It has medium to full-bodied richness and a layered, silky texture, with beautiful purity of fruit and building, fine tannin, its oak component pushed completely into the background. It's another gorgeous wine from this estate.
Dark purple. Powerful, expansive aromas of candied blackberry, boysenberry and candied licorice are complicated by violet and black pepper notes. Lush, sweet and smooth, offering spice-tinged dark berry and cherry compote flavors enlivened by zesty minerality. Finishes sappy and very long, repeating the spicy note and displaying a hint of olive and broad, harmonious tannins.
