Deep cherry red. Fragrant not just with dark-red fruit but also a floral and sweet vanilla note. Sweet and sour on the palate, the fruit and acidity contrasting more than balancing at the moment but the balance is there. Juicy finish. (JH)

(this one finished its malo relatively early, before the beginning of summer): Brigt medium red. Seductive, inviting aromas of raspberry, smoke and peppery herbs. Showing less depth and structure but more early appeal than the Chaumes, with cherry and raspberry flavors accented by orange peel and a suggestion of white fruit. Finishes with a saline quality and building but essentially gentle tannins.
