Tasting notes
The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Il Sigillo opens with a dark and brooding bouquet of musky blackcurrants, underbrush, savory herbs and dark chocolate. Despite its weight and velvety textures, its citrus-infused red and black fruits display lovely lift and freshness. It finishes long with nuances of bitter cocoa and cedary spice.

The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Il Sigillo is a dark and penetrating wine with a very smoky, dark and brooding personality. Give the wine a few moments in the glass to allow for the enormity of its aromas to come together. The bouquet is laced with thick and penetrating black fruit, cassis, plum and prune. There is a noticeable oak element here with baking spice and Spanish cedar. The finish is a little flat. Some 25,000 bottles were released.
