Yann Chave's 2017 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine reveals a deep purple color as well as classy notes of black raspberries, currants, cured meats, and peppery herbs. It's medium-bodied, balanced, and as classic as they come. It's also well worth seeking out. Drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years.

Bright violet. Spicy, mineral-tinged dark berries and a hint of violet on the incisive nose. Smoky and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and blackberry flavors that unfurl quickly as the wine opens up. Shows good energy and peppery cut on the gently tannic finish, which lingers with nice, floral-tinged persistence.
Pretty consistent year after year, Yann Chave's 2017 Crozes Hermitage continues that tradition. It's fruit forward, marked by black cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors, but includes enough savory black olive notes to maintain a sense of complexity and balance. Medium to full-bodied, it has a velvety feel and a long, spice-driven finish that should ensure pleasure through at least 2023.
