The La Fortuna 2011 Brunello di Montalcino reminds us of the elegant and nuanced side of Sangiovese that can be harnessed even in a challenging vintage like this. Despite the warm growing season, this wine shows depth and precision with wild berry tones that are followed by lingering aromas of balsam herb and licorice.

Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Rather simple nose and fresh juicy fruit on the palate, lacking a little oomph, like it was harvested just a little too early? (WS)
