Score 90/100 · Drink 2022-2027, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Mar 2022

The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Black Label (Marlborough) is a broad, round, rich style. While there are classical notes of ripe passionfruit and subtle snow pea, the variety's naturally angular edges have been curved; a portion undergoes malolactic conversion, and there's also yeast and lees work to build texture. It's a more mellow expression of the variety while maintaining purity of fruit. There's good concentration, but a little more length and aromatic complexity would enhance it further.
