Tasting notes
Saturated magenta. Spice-accented, black raspberry, violet, olive and smoky minerals, plus a hint of vanilla in the background. Juicy and precise on the palate, offering sappy, dark berry, cherry-cola, floral pastille and cracked pepper flavors that deepen through the back half. Shows fine definition and appealing sweetness on the long, gently tannic finish, which leaves repeating cherry and floral notes behind. 50% new oak.

90% Syrah, 10% Viognier, 100% destemmed. Aged for 18 months in barrel (50% new oak). Barrel sample. Tasted blind. Very expressive – the viognier shining through to offer perfume and fruitiness alongside a note of black pepper and clove. A ripe palate with lots of fruit, and moderate acidity. Well-judged fine tannins and an opulent finish with a peppery twang. (AC)
