Score 87-89/100 · Drink 2020-2028, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Peuillets 1er Cru, from what is perhaps one of the lesser-known Premier Crus in the appellation, has an attractive and quite floral bouquet featuring brambly red fruit infused with rose petals and a hint of shucked oyster shells. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry, a little pinched at the moment, but quite sustained. Needs a bit more cohesion, which will hopefully manifest during the remainder of its élevage .
