Score 89/100 · Drink 2004-2010, Pierre Rovani, Dec 2001

The mineral-scented 1999 Riesling Schlossberg displays zesty pear, white flower, and stone-like flavors. It has excellent focus, purity, and balance to its tightly wound, youthful character. This wine reveals lovely concentration, yet will require cellaring to blossom. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2010. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802

Expressive aromas of orange oil and wet stone. Chewy and dense but not at all sweet; classic riesling flavors of dried fruits and stone. This has lovely balance and finesse. A subtle, very persistent wine that finishes dry but not at all hard.
