Score 93/100 · Drink 2019-2040, Robert Parker, Dec 2015

This estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vineyard on the back streets of St. Helena, not far from the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena is dense ruby/purple with sweet blueberry and blackcurrant fruit, ripe tannin, medium to full body, an authoritative mouthfeel and an alcohol level at 14.8%. This is relatively full-throttle, but pulls back before it pushes too far. There is elegance, purity and overall harmony among all of its elements. The wine still seems youthful and unevolved, which is somewhat surprising for the rather flamboyant and showy 2012s. The finish is impressive and overall I think this is going to turn out to be special. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades plus.
