Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2036, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2019
Bizot purchased this parcel in 2007, and ever since it has been beset by misfortune, with hail, frost and disease, meaning he has rarely brought in a full crop. The quality of the beautiful 2016 Marsannay Clos du Roy is some compensation, however, as the wine bursts from the glass with an extraordinary bouquet of sweet berries, dark cherries, baking chocolate, cinnamon and dried flowers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and richly tannic, with a layered core, incisive acids and a long, pungently savory finish that's framed by powdery stem tannin.
