Tasting notes
Open and charming, the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Santenots (Domaine Louis Jadot) bursts from the glass with notions of plums, blackberries, raw cocoa and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and round, it's charming and sensuous. The 2019 is the third rendition of this new domaine bottling derived from the holdings of Prieur-Brunet.

The 2019 Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru showed a little reduction on the nose, and there was a very faint acetic note behind the veil of high-toned red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and shows more composure than the nose. Kirsch and orange zest mix with licorice notes, and the finish is quite long if just missing the complexity I expect from this vineyard.
About the producer

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
