Bright medium yellow. Aromas of white peach, marzipan, hazelnut and spicy, smoky oak. Silky, thick and deep, with very ripe candied yellow fruit flavors complicated by suggestions of hydrocarbons, flint and pepper. A rather rectilinear wine with a very long, lightly tannic honey-and-nuts finish and superb potential, but I wouldn't describe it as classic Corton-Charlie. This powerful wine shows its 25% oak component on the end.

Big and quite brawny but without real refinement. Very four-square and a bit stodgy. Some alcohol on the end. (JR)

(from fruit picked on September 8): Bright yellow. Noble soil notes of lime, oyster shell and wild herbs, plus a hint of licorice. Densely packed, rich and chewy, with an impression of sucrosité for the vintage that's nicely offset by medicinal menthol and lemon oil flavors, not to mention solid natural acidity. A touch of gentian bitterness gives the finish a dry touch in the early going.
