Score 91/100 · Drink 2015-2026, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Apr 2019

The 2011 Barolo Ginestra is an oak-driven expression with spice, cinnamon and black fruit in pole position. However, it shows plenty of ripe and succulent fruit at its core.

Montforte d'Alba. Deep and sweet fruited on the nose. Spicy and some oak sweetness. Big and full-flavoured. Powerful, dry, far from ready, but everything is there for a long future. (JH)

Monforte d’Alba. Concentrated ruby with orange tinges. Hints of pine and cherry on the nose and bags of chewy, tangy, cherry fruit with lots of depth on the palate. Real vigour and power on the palate. Perhaps a little alcoholic. (WS)
