Tasting notes
Gallina is one of the celebrated growing sites in the comune di Neive. It is known for its structured and age-worthy wines. The Piero Busso 2015 Barbaresco Gallina shows the soft and ripe aromas of this warm growing season with black cherry, plum and blood orange. In terms of mouthfeel, you will recognize the tight tannins and firm textural support. Pretty dustings of crushed mineral or limestone add to the elegance of the long finish.

The 2015 Barbaresco Gallina is a very pretty, nuanced wine built on mid-weight structure. Floral notes, sweet tobacco, sweet red cherry, mint, rose water and cinnamon are all very nicely lifted in a gracious, inviting Barbaresco that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2015 is a bit ethereal in feel, but super attractive.
Thereâs plenty of cedar here, but also earl-grey and Yorkshire tea; then comes a hint of incense and candle wax. The full-bodied palate doesnât strike you as particularly tannic at first, but the power slowly builds through the dried fruit, opening out into a robust core of chewiness and density. Drink from 2023.
