The 2014 Barbaresco Asili is floral and nicely lifted, with bright acids and lively tannins that give the wine its sense of energy. Red berry and floral notes are pushed forward in this attractive, if slightly nervous, Barbaresco from Cascina Luisin.

Tasted blind. Barbaresco. Just mid ruby with bricky tinges. Aromatic, deep cherry nose and quite linear on the palate with lots of fine, powdery tannins. Burgundian approach and a little lean. Not sure if there is enough concentration for prolonged ageing, but nevertheless it’s gorgeous right now. (WS)
