Lurid violet. Fresh dark fruit and candied violet aromas are complemented by suggestions of exotic spices and smoky minerals. Shows very good depth and energy on the palate, offering pliant black raspberry and blueberry flavors that become sweeter as the wine opens up. Finishes with gentle tannic grip and strong, floral-driven persistence, leaving a smoky mineral note behind.

Tasted blind. Beautiful pepper and meaty aromas on the nose – top-drawer Syrah with succulent fruit, effortless persistence and gentle tannins. Great complexity, and retains the daintiness of St-Joseph without sacrificing intensity or length. (RH)
