Tasting notes
The 2009 Barolo Riserva Bussia is attractive, even if the fruit is a bit dried out and some freshness is lacking. Savory herbs, dried stone fruits, orange peel and white pepper are some of the signatures. Even with its small imperfections, the Riserva shows just how magical Nebbiolo can be. Ferrous, savory notes add the final shades of nuance. My impression is that the fruit will dry out before the tannins soften, so the 2009 is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.

The 2009 Barolo Riserva Bussia is an attractive and shapely wine that opens to a pretty garnet color and graceful aromas of wild berry, dried blueberry, spice and powdered chocolate. The bouquet is fragrant and feminine with combined floral and red fruit intensity. Its texture is soft and opulent with enduring sweet cherry flavors that awaken the palate.
