Score 89/100 · Drink 2016-2020, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The 2011 Nero d'Avola Cembali opens to slightly rustic tones of cured meat and forest bramble with loads of luscious, dark fruit at the back. The wine is still identified with the IGT Sicilia appellation, although that should change to DOC with the 2012 vintage. Black fruit aromas are followed by slightly aged tones of tar, licorice, grilled herb, rosemary and barbecue smoke.
