I loved the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur, which shows the ripe, sexy, yet concentrated style of the vintage beautifully. Lots of red and darker berry fruits as well as spice, incense, and a touch of foresty, earthy notes emerge from the glass, and it's certainly a ripe, concentrated Gevrey-Chambertin that leads with its fruit today. Despite the warmth of the vintage, it stays balanced, has a solid sense of freshness, and should have a solid 10-15 years of prime drinking. I'd be happy with bottles in the cellar.

Intensely perfumed. Almost rich on the nose. Lots of grip and ambition, with a tad more oak in evidence than on the Vieilles Vignes. At the moment the latter looks preferable though I dare say the Clos Prieur will outlast it. Lots of tension and fruit apparently picked at just the right time. Brava! (JR)
