Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2016

Medium-deep red with a hint of amber. Aromas of dark berries, licorice and black olive complicated by balsamic and lactic nuances. Plush, fine-grained and sweet, showing good energy to the dark plum and roast coffee flavors. Finishes long, with substantial firm tannins that could still benefit from another couple years of aging. But showing very well today.

Good deep red with ruby tones. Compellingly pure aromas of black cherry, leather, game and bitter chocolate. Fat, full and imploded, with strong soil tones of meat, menthol, smoke, earth and fresh herbs and a youthfully medicinal character. Very concentrated wine in which the new oak virtually disappears. Finishes with suave tannins and subtle, palate-saturating flavor.

Mouth-watering aromas of bacon and smoky black fruits are found in the nose of the 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers. Medium-bodied, tangy, and slightly rustic, it offers smoked meats and blackberry flavors in its focused character. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2012. Bright ruby-red. Ripe aromas of black cherry and violet. Dense, sweet and juicy, but also solidly built and backward. Strong minerality gives the wine excellent verve. Next to this sample, the previous 2002s seem almost ready to bottle. Finishes very long and strong, with firm tannins that avoid hardness. Offers superb potential.
