25% Rolle, with Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah. Gentle, delicate scent. Light red fruits, a bit of redcurrant and grassy. Delicate, low acid, light body. Softly spoken. (RH)

Plump and rounded on the palate, Miraval's 2021 Cotes de Provence Rose follows that up with a mouthwatering, citrusy finish. It's a pretty standard Provence offering but executed at a high level, with attractive scents of crushed stone accenting peach, melon and lime-like notes. Just who owns this wine estate may be in the hands of a French court, but the winemaking is firmly under the control of the Perrin family and reflects their high standards of quality.

Vivid orange-pink. Mineral-tinged red berries, orange zest and nectarine aromas show fine clarity and pick up a floral nuance with air. Juicy and focused on the palate offering sappy tangerine and strawberry flavors that deepen steadily and take on a spicy white pepper note through the back half. Finishes long, gently chewy and precise, with repeating red fruit and spice notes. - Josh Raynolds

Tasted from a 5-cl mini sample. Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Rolle from the château’s best parcels (Muriers, Longue and Romarin) as well as parcels ‘in the best terroirs of Provence’. So, mostly négociant wine. 95% stainless steel, 5% barrels with bâtonnage. Another almost-water-white ‘pink’. Tastes a little drier than the Miraval Studio, much less fruity. Classic, crisp, direct and elegant, absolutely everything in the right place, but I must admit I prefer the texture and curves of the Studio, which is, to be honest, more interesting. This is very much in the bleached-and-blanched, sculpted-to-perfection model of Provence pinks, which probably attracts a bleached-and-blanched, sculpted-to-perfection model fan base. (TC)
