Tasting notes
The 2017 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru has a very perfumed, floral bouquet of red berry fruit infused with rose petal and lavender notes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and harmonious. The oak is well integrated, and the finish fans out wonderfully. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru is dense, flashy and voluptuous, yet also very much in the mid-weight style that defines the Clerget wines in 2017. Super-ripe red cherry and strawberry fruit open up first, with attractive floral and spiced notes that develop later. Fleshy and inviting, the Pommard will be virtually impossible to resist upon release.
Quite deep-flavoured and lively. Solid and fresh but with promising undertow. Very dry, even slightly bitter end. (JR)
