Tasting notes
It's hard not to fall in love with the 2011 Barolo Brunate. The wine boasts broad shoulders and a full bouquet of ripe fruit aromas. This Barolo is deeply aromatic and expressive, two characteristics that are forever linked to this warm vintage. Barolo Brunate is rich and pervasive in terms of mouthfeel with dark fruit flavors, spice, blackberry, tar, licorice and barbecue smoke that last many long minutes. The wine also offers ample freshness to counter that opulence.

Deep and implosive to the core, the 2011 Barolo Brunate impresses for its depth. Here it is the wine's structure and tannin that dominate. Sweet rose petals, mint, anise and sweet spices add an element of lift, but the 2011 needs further time in bottle to fully meld together.
A dark, imposing wine, the 2011 Barolo Brunate wraps around the palate with serious depth adn resonance. Dark red and black stone fruits, smoke, licorice, tobacco, iron, incense and leather form a striking fabric of aromas and flavors in a seamless, textured Barolo endowed with considerable textural volume and pretty silky tannins for the year. This is one of the more open Brunate Barolos readers will come across in 2011. Among the the single-vineyard Barolos, Brunate is the most marked by the vintage.
