Deep garnet. Perfumed with the sweetness of red fruit, and a tang of sour cherry. Remarkably youthful with just a touch of undergrowth and leather. Juicy yet complex, with those lovely aged Sangiovese characteristics of dried cherry and sweet spice (not oak spice) and tobacco. Mouthwateringly sweet/sour finish. (JH)

Very dark blackish crimson. Lively and fresher than the Tassinaia. More polished and delicate. Holds it alcohol very well. Dryish tannins on the finish. Very fresh and vibrant. (JR)

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot Healthy ruby. Velvety texture and very gentle opulent, ripe flavours – much more so than 2004 bordeaux! Nice wine, very well made, but the price looks a bit frightening. Neat, fresh, finish. As brisk as a cup of fine tea... (JR)

The estate's 2004 Lupicaia is a massive, densely structured wine loaded with dark fruit, sweet herbs, menthol and toasted oak. This powerful wine comes across as very shut down, yet it offers superb length and outstanding potential once the tannins begin to melt away. Lupicaia is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 5% and Petit Verdot aged 18 months in French oak.
