Tasting notes
The 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo has high-toned aromatics of fresh pomegranate, apricot candy, and stony earth. The palate is medium-bodied, with ripe strawberry fruit, fresh herbs, and a gentle structure. This is super-approachable, easy-drinking Nebbiolo is great with a light chill. Drink 2021-2025. The Brezza estate consists of 31 hectares of which 20 are dedicated to vineyards. It was founded in 1885, and in 1910 the first estate bottles were produced by Giacomo and his father, Antonio Brezza. They practice organic viticulture, harvest by hand, and only utilize light four-wheelers in the vineyard to prevent the compaction of the soils. For the past ten years, they have also implemented the use of glass stoppers on many of their bottles.

Here's a fun and informal wine to pair with a simple tomato and mozzarella pizza, maybe with a few flakes of hot chili pepper. Closed with a glass cork, the Giacomo Brezza e Figli 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo is a lean and compact expression with tangy forest berry and bitter almond. The bitterness of the wine needs to pair against some cheese or a creamy dish. It's rare to find a Nebbiolo released this early (in April 2020, to be exact, only a half year after the harvest), and an ample 12,400 of them were rolled out.
