Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a fruit-forward bouquet with plenty of crushed strawberry and red cherry fruit, although it clearly lacks the terroir expression of Rossignol-Trapet's Latricières tasted alongside. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red cherries and crushed strawberry. It is sweet and pure, a punter-friendly Grand Cru, that said it needs more complexity to show through. Tasted September 2016.

Much more savoury on the nose than the Clos de la Roche. Firm and sculpted. At the moment a little bony and youthful and it doesn’t have massive fruit weight. A little dry on the end. (JR)
