Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2024-2040, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru comes from purchased fruit. It was sorted three times: in the vineyard, at a first sorting table (vibrating), and during destemming. The perfumed bouquet features dark cherries, boysenberry and just a touch of charcoal. The palate is beautifully balanced with satin-like tannins, a fine bead of acidity and a spicy white-pepper-tinged finish. This is a well-crafted Clos-de-Bèze, even if not a top-drawer example in this vintage.
