2008 Meursault Tete de Murger

Bright yellow. Reticent but complex nose hints at stone, menthol, lavender and brown spices. At once lush and energetic, with orchard fruit flavors complicated by subtle herbs and spices and lifted by bright acidity and firm minerality. Rich but very pure, and not a bit exotic. Finishes long and aromatic. Superb.

Pretty nose that’s quite intense. Very dense and tight. Chalky notes and very dry and tightened up on the finish. Not obviously that much better than the Tillets at the moment but I suppose it will eventually convince us that the premium is worth it. Also tasted 11 Jan 2010: Scented and intense. On the palate still very slightly feeble. Chewy end. Pretty dry. Just a bit expensive relative to his other great cuvées. (JR)

Bright pale yellow. Restrained but very pure aromas of apple, minerals, lavender and butter, along with an intriguing whiff of black pepper. Rich, full and sweet, with sexy peach flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity; less citric than the Charmes. At once powerful and glyceral, and the most buttery of these 2007s. Very rich wine with a slightly phenolic finish.
