The 2020 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is brilliant. Soaring from the glass with aromas of wild berries, plums, blood orange, peonies and sweet soil tones, it's full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep and layered core, lively acids and a long, saline finish.

The 2020 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru, containing 50% whole bunch and 100% new oak. At the moment, the oak is just a little domineering on the nose, although there is sufficient fruit to eat that up with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, fine backbone here with slightly confit-like fruit towards the finish. Difficult to see the DNA of this wine at the moment except that it will require a lot of bottle age.

This estate, today with Arnaud Mortet at the helm, makes some of Gevrey-Chambertin’s finest wines. Working with 16 hectares, as well as a few négociant parcels, this property makes perfumed and chiselled Pinot Noir.
