Tasting notes
Ente's 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts exhibits aromas of Anjou pear, freshly baked bread, citrus oil and wheat toast, framed by a discreet touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, bright and satiny, it's seamless and concentrated, with a tangy spine of acidity and a long, saline finish.

0.13 ha. Next to Meursault Charmes, with lightish soil, not a lot of clay. Stony and plenty of sand. Sunny too and lower slope; doesn’t usually lack water. Fruit from young vines planted in 2010 in Les Referts [NB he still doesn’t know whether he’ll sell it as a village wine or as Les Referts]. Performs very differently in different years. Tank sample. Correct and straight backed. More intensity than an average village Puligny. But Arnaud believes that vines need 20 years and then they turn a corner. Great sappiness to this wine. (JR)
