The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Gain is terrific, offering up aromas of freshly baked bread, white flowers, crisp stone fruit and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with bright acids and a long, mineral finish, it's seamless and precise, with an elegantly classical profile.

2014 was his first vintage of this wine. Vines used to be worked by his younger brother Benoît Ente who now has La Truffière. Tank sample. Low-key nose. Very different from the rest of the range. A bit green and loose compared with the other wines. Good structure but drier and a bit more austere than the others. Arnaud says mineral. (JR)
