Tasting notes
The 2019 Côte Rôtie La Giroflarie is beautiful, with a classic, medium to full-bodied, elegant style as well as quintessential notes of smoked red and black fruits, bacon fat, game, spring flowers, and ground pepper. It's beautifully balanced, has ultra-fine tannins, a supple, elegant mouthfeel, and bright yet nicely integrated acidity. A classic, seamless Côte Rôtie, it will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully over the following 10-15+.

Tight and layered, but with plenty of intense oak and fruit on the palate. Still in its junior phase, of course, but has the purity of fruit that is a very good sign for ageing, and it is typically peppery too. (RH)
Brilliant violet color. Cassis, cherry-cola, licorice and floral scents are complemented by suggestions of smoky bacon and cracked pepper. Shows very good depth as well as energy to its sweet red and blue fruit flavors, which become more spicy as the wine opens up. Closes smooth, spicy and long, with resonating florality and fine-grained tannins that come in late.
