Tasting notes
The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a very opulent bouquet with black cherries, mulberry and just a touch of licorice coming through with time. It seems to gain a little clarity. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fleshy, very sweet and candied on the mid-palate, which has a mint chocolate/pine sensation that overwhelms. It is not particularly Pinot-like. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Aromas of orange rind, wild berries, plums, vine smoke, incense, sweet spices and loamy soil introduce the 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, a full-bodied, concentrated wine that's rich and muscular, with a layered core of fruit and plenty of powdery structuring tannins. This is one wine chez Guyon that will require a bit of patience.
(from a .35 ha holding in Les 10 Journaux). This is also really quite pretty if decidedly earthier with its nose of red currant, dark cherry and subtle floral wisps. There is again excellent volume to the solidly concentrated and powerful big-bodied flavors that deliver very fine depth and persistence on the youthfully austere finale. This is really quite refined in the context of what is typical for Clos de Vougeot. (92-94)/2032+
