Score 89/100 · Drink 2024-2032, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2024

From a cool, rainy, challenging year, the 2021 Saint Joseph Offerus is nevertheless charming and satisfying, with ample classic Northern Rhône aromas and flavors. With medium-bodied richness and depth, it has solid richness in its darker cherry and mulberry fruits as well as some gamey, peppery, and green, floral nuances. This steep, granitic hillside was the place to be in 2021, and this wine has higher yet nicely integrated acidity, ripe tannins, and solid length on the finish. It's absolutely delicious for drinking today and any time over the coming 7-8 years. I followed this bottle for multiple days, and it improved with air, so don't be afraid to give this a decant if drinking any time soon. It's an impeccably made Syrah that has some real granite character.
