Lamy's 2014 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Haute Densité is one of the most tightly wound wines in this tasting, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of pear, citrus oil and crisp stone fruit mingled with hints of iodine, freshly baked bread and wet stones. Full-bodied, ample and layered, it's taut and chalky, with huge levels of concentration, racy acids and an immensely long, pungently saline finish. It's a very impressive wine, but patience is still advised.

(in foudre ): Tight, penetrating scents of lime, crushed rock and minerals. Sappy and energetic, with its lemon and lime flavors complicated by dusty saline minerality. Boasts almost painful energy and cut and finishes with palate-saturating minerality. This is evolving very slowly and should enjoy a long life in bottle.

(the crop level here was under 25 hectoliters per hectare, noted Lamy, adding that each vine yielded barely 100 grams of fruit): Subtle, very pure aromas of lime zest and minerals; less reduced and more pristine than the high-density wine from Les Tremblots. Electric flavors of lime and crushed stone communicate an impression of density without weight. A cut above the other Saint-Aubin bottlings here owing to the tiny yield. Lamy picked this parcel very early but said he could have harvested one day earlier. Still, this strongly soil-driven wine boasts superb energy and a sappy, dusty, rising finish.
