All destemmed. Pale crimson. Notably ripe fruit that seems to have sacrificed a little bit of freshness. Slight lack of concentration. (JR)

A blend of five different vineyards, one at the top of the hill representing 60% of the blend, the totally de-stemmed 2017 Volnay Village has an expressive, quintessential Volnay bouquet of pure black cherries and blueberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate offers fleshy red berry fruit laced with sage and white pepper; hints of clove pop up toward the finish. One of Rossignol’s more approachable cuvées. Very fine.

The 2017 Volnay Village exhibits aromas of spicy blackcurrants and dried flowers, followed by a medium-bodied, deep and tight-knit palate, with promising depth but chalky structuring tannin which will need some time. If the slight asperity it displayed from barrel has resolved by the time it's bottled, my score will look conservative.
