Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2050, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022
The 2021 Monzinger Riesling trocken Halgans is pure, bright and very delicate but substantial and mineral on the the intense, well-concentrated and iodine-scented rather than fruity nose. The attack on the palate is savory, fresh and more nervous rather than settled but develops an enormously vital, even vibrantly fresh and persistently saline finish. The Halgans is still tight and less generous, needing two or three years. Bone-dry, radically straight and savory, this is a love-me-or-leave-me wine. Natural cork. 12% stated alcohol. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.
