Score 91/100 · Drink 2024-2042, Neal Martin, Dec 2023
The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a more attractive and complex bouquet than Rapet's, with yellow fruit, almond and hints of white chocolate. Showing good volume and delineation, these aromatics want to grab your attention. This is maybe a little oaky on the nose, yet there is a clever reduction at play—one that is not blatantly obvious. The palate harnesses the precocity of the vintage with layers of slightly honeyed, spicy fruit counterbalanced by acidity. It loses a little complexity toward the back end, but if you are seeking a bold and rather brash Corton-Charlemagne, look no further. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
