Tasting Notes
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has one of the most impressive noses amongst the Cazetiers, despite some reduction, showing vibrant red fruit and mineralité. There is intensity and focus here. The palate is intense and packed with pure red fruit, smooth in texture, with fine acidity. It's lightly spiced towards the finish. This wine has density rather than grace, though the latter should develop with time in bottle. Patience is required, but you can just feel the class. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Full rich purple. A significantly opulent fruit, but not overbalanced. It is on the riper side yet with a gorgeous quality of fruit, and very long. There was a hint of something faintly bacterial, but nt enough to damage the wine too much. Still many elements of a lovely wine.
Aromas of rich berry fruit, plums and cherries mingling with warm spices, licorice, black truffle and loamy soil in an inviting bouquet introduce the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers, a medium to full-bodied, ample and gourmand wine that's sensual and enveloping, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, perfumed finish.
