Tasting notes
One of my favorite cuvees out there, Ferrando’s 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Colombis is a 100% Grenache cuvee that comes all from sandy soils. Like most 2009s, it’s an exuberant, sexy beast that has tons of sweet kirsch, garrigue, dried herbs and sandy/loamy soil notes. Seemingly on a fast-evolutionary track, with plenty of sweet fruit and a great finish, I wouldn’t delay gratification on this beauty and would plan on finishing my last bottle within the next decade.

A highly perfumed bouquet evokes black raspberry, garrigue and spice cake, with an intense floral quality and a touch of white pepper. Racy and precise on entry, then fleshier and more serious in the mid-palate, offering energetic red fruit and cherry flavors. The floral and spice notes come back on a long, sappy and well-defined finish.
