Clos Sorbé is one of the top Premier Cru sites in Morey – and one produced by another FINE+RARe favourite, David Duband. Jouan’s 2021 bottling was a little reductive when we tasted it, but that’s just a phase. It was dark, intense and broody, with concentration, birhgt acidity and a firm grip that shows promise.

Cask sample. Lightish ruby. A touch of peppery reduction here and the SO 2 getting in the way at the moment, but that’s not necessarily a negative at this embryonic stage. Lively red fruits and juicy, bright, high acid that’s just in balance. Tannic finesse. (JH)

The wines of Henri & Philippe Jouan fly under the radar – and, with the current quantities produced (from just three hectares of vines), this is unlikely to change any time soon.
