Tortochot lost 70% of their crop this year. They have 0.57 hectares in Charmes-Chambertin, on the Mazoyères side. In 2021, it’s an impressive result – with a toasty sweetness from the oak (75% new) that cloaks the dark yet sweet berry fruit. The palate offers a rollercoaster of mouthwatering fruit – saline and redcurrant notes washing over the tongue. There’s a smoky tone, with pinpoint acidity and an almost bitter, savoury finish that provides a pleasing contrast to the fruit.

Situated in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Tortochot may not carry the cachet of the very top domaines in the village, but it does offer some of the best value, producing wines with great terroir transparency in their top Premiers and Grands Crus, and fabulous village wines.
