Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Oct 2023

The 2019 Pinot Noir Découverte Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1996 and was matured in barrel for 17 months. It has pretty scents of cranberries, blackberries, tea leaves and violets with amaro-like undertones. The light-bodied palate is elegant, with a soft, juicy frame, detailed, fragrant flavors and a layered, ethereal finish.

Full bottle 1,352 g. 600 – 690 ft elevation. Clones: Pommard, 777, Coury and 96. Picked 1 and 2 October. 17 months in 30% new French oak. Bottled March 2021. 627 cases produced. Pale ruby. Needs air. Red cherry and a wild microbial funkiness on the nose. Ripe red cherry on the palate. A tad bitter on the aftertaste. Tannins are low, acid is medium-plus, finish is wild sour rose hips. With time the dry extract unwinds, becoming less bitter and more herbal and giving. Still never an ounce of sweet fruit. (SCJ)
