The nose of the 2021 Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese shows a touch of smoke, followed by vividly fruity ripeness, redolent of melon, juicy pear, and flinty peach. The palate is full and sinuous, the sweetness absolutely channeled into juicy, energetic and mouth-watering flow. A yeasty undertow lends texture and an additional dimension. Freshness defines this wine and lends it untold elegance and balance. (Sweet)

The 2021 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese is very clear, bright and elegant on the saline and beautifully balanced nose that delivers bright and quite intense fruit aromas intermingled with weathered slate and also citrus aromas. On the palate, this is a round and intense, mouth-filling and lush, almost creamy-textured Himmelreich with a long, complex and saline finish. It needs some time, though. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023.
On the nose this is very similar to the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese, perhaps a little 'darker'. Tastes like lemon curd with its creamy citrus intensity. (JH)
