The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a superb, well-defined, mineral-driven bouquet with plenty of white and yellow fruit, focused and poised. The palate follows through with a viscous texture and a keen line of acidity. It is one of the spiciest, more peppery Corton-Charlemagnes in this flight, yet it retains palpable delineation and harmony on the finish, plus it delivers the sapidity to take another sip. It might feel a bit "skinny" to some who prefer the fatter style of Corton-Charlemagne. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is more demonstrative than the Puligny-Montrachet premiers crus, bursting with aromas of pear, peach, orange oil, white flowers and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and open-knit, with lively acids and a saline finish, it's a creditable effort.
There are four barrels of the 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru this year. It is quite reserved on the nose, perhaps just missing a bit of Corton-Charlemagne "grunt". I need to see a little more power. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, waxy in texture with touches of almond and hazelnut towards the finish. It gets better after a slowish start. Closure: Diam 30
