Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2023-2038, Neal Martin, Dec 2020
The 2019 Marsannay "L'Ancestrale" has a gorgeous mulberry scented bouquet with heather and a touch of peppermint in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with good grip on the entry, redcurrant and cranberry fruit, very saline on the finish with very good length. There is a sense of..."bounce" in this Marsannay.

1 ha. Usually two years’ maturation. Vines 60–80 years and half of the stems are kept. Since 2001, a blend of his best selections from En Clemongeot, Clos du Roy and Les Ouzeloy. Cask sample. Saline and refreshing. Though it falls away on the end. (JR)
