2008 Dolc de l'Obac

(80% garnacha and 10% each of syrah and cabernet sauvignon, all late-harvested and finished, with the addition of wine-derived spirit, at 16.5% alcohol): Glass-staining ruby. Expressive aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, vanilla and bitter chocolate. Velvety and expansive, with a smooth texture to the flavors of dark berry preserves, bitter cherry and fruitcake. Finishes fine-grained and sweet, very good breadth and lingering spiciness. For a late-harvest wine this is surprisingly lithe.
