Ogier's 1989 Cote Rotie exhibited an exceptional elegance and a perfume that could rival the greatest wines of Burgundy. With more tannin and structure than the 1990, as well as excellent color, it needs 2-3 years of cellaring. There is no doubting its magnificent fragrance of spring flowers, black fruits, oak, and minerals. The flavors are tightly knit, and the precociousness suggested by the bouquet is not followed up on the palate as the wine needs some cellaring. Last tasted 11/94.
