Tasting notes
The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is an attractive, nuanced wine to drink now and over the next few years. Dark cherry, tobacco, game and incense bring out the darker, wilder side of Sangiovese in this expressive, layered Rosso. This is such a gorgeous and expressive wine.

Mid ruby with orange tinges. Quite herbal with sweet fruit that doesn’t display a lot of depth, and chewy but ripe tannins. Should give pleasure over the next couple of years. (WS)
I tasted this wine not too long before bottling. The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is a beautifully linear and bright wine with a strong mineral backbone. Flint and ash are followed by balsam herb and rosemary sprig. There is plenty of dark cherry fruit as well, to round it off and soften it up.
